Love Your Melon - Smile Tour
In the Winter of 2014, I was approached by the owners of the non-profit* Love Your Melon to join them on a cross-country tour with a mission to raise money and awareness for children battling cancer. Together with the owners, I outfitted an old school bus with bunk beds, desks, and couches to create a mobile workstation and home. The aim was to travel across the country for 30 days in the bus, visiting different hospitals, colleges, and businesses along the way to raise awareness and raise money for children battling cancer. My role was to create a long-form documentary video to present to investors and board members as a thanks for helping make the trip possible. What I ended up doing, was devising a comprehensive content distribution plan which included the posting of daily short-form video content, photography, and blog posts to assist in the growth of the company, and the spreading of the message. In 30 days, the content on the Facebook page caused an increase in the following of the page by over 1,000%. This kickstarted the company into a 1M+ person following. On the tour across the country, I was in charge of filming all of the content for the day and the eventual documentary, as well as editing and distributing the content daily, as well as to oversee the photography, and other creative elements that were created during the tour. Throughout this 30 day trip, I donated all of my time and equipment to Love Your Melon - which combined ended up being around 800 hours. *At the time of the tour, Love Your Melon was a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit company. They no longer fall under this status.
